May 25, 2026 — Five project developers have successfully completed the fourth CEEZER Carbon Coalition accelerator program, the first of its kind designed specifically for Nature-based solutions (NbS) companies. Carefully selected from over 50 applicants, these graduates represent ecosystem restoration and blue carbon projects from around the world.
“The dynamics in today’s NbS market are evolving rapidly thanks to a challenging combination of high buyer demand, long-term contracts, and a relatively low share of high-integrity NbS removal projects. Our first ever NbS edition of the Carbon Coalition specifically supported developers in navigating this next phase of the NbS market and unlocking its significant untapped potential,” explains CEEZER's Chief Impact Office, Dr. Carla Woydt.
Graduates highlighted the program's practical impact on their commercial readiness. "Corporate buyers are no longer just looking for good projects, they are looking for projects that are portfolio-ready, diligence-ready, and claims-ready," noted one participant.
CEEZER’s Carbon Coalition enabled these developers to refine how projects are packaged and presented. Participants also valued the peer learning dimension, with one graduate describing it as bringing together developers "at a pivotal moment for the voluntary carbon market." Above all, the program helped close the gap between project development and commercial execution, surfacing documentation gaps and buyer concerns before they arose in live negotiations.
Accelerating growth and innovation in the carbon removal industry
Representing diverse NbS, the following five graduates in Cohort 04 were chosen from a competitive applicant pool of 50+ startups spanning 27 countries:
- Medius Earth provides community-owned restoration projects in India with a complete operating system. Learn more
- Wild + Pine is developing the StoneWoods Forest Carbon project, a Canadian afforestation carbon removal project. Learn more
- Offset8 Capital is developing iRise’s Climate and Community Transformation Program, a project restoring degraded land in Malawi through afforestation and reforestation. Learn more
- Carbon Ventures Africa is developing Miombo Renewal, a project restoring over 200,000 hectares of degraded miombo woodlands across the "Grand Katanga" region of southeastern DR Congo. Learn more
- Global Decarbonization Solutions identifies potential carbon projects in the global south, working with a variety of stakeholders to define and finance carbon projects, manage project activities, and more. Learn more
“The CEEZER sessions point to a clear market direction: buyers are becoming more selective, more documentation-heavy, and more risk-sensitive. The greatest impact of the program is not listing our project on CEEZER, but to make StoneWoods transaction-ready: clear documentation, credible delivery timelines, strong MRV, defensive co-benefits, and careful claims language.” - Wild + Pine, StoneWoods ARR project, Canada
Cohort 04 surpassed expectations: together, these five projects represent over 4,000,000 tonnes of credit volume visible on the CEEZER platform through 2040, four times the original target.
These projects are now active on CEEZER’s platform under "preview" listings, giving buyers an early opportunity to engage with them as they progress toward issuance. One project has already advanced to a full listing, having neared issuance under Isometric's new reforestation protocol. Remaining projects will follow as they complete registration under CEEZER-supported carbon-crediting programs and pass CEEZER's risk screening process.
A program bringing together expertise from across the industry
The project developers explored key aspects of the voluntary carbon market (VCM) through customized individual sessions with CEEZER’s experts and group sessions led by partners from the field. This included:
- Buyer behavior, drivers and financing structures, led by the CEEZER commercial team
- Navigating Article 6 complexity with BeZero
- The role of digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) with Kanop and OroraTech
